چکیده
Objectives: The umbilical coiling index, calculated by dividing the total coil number to cord length, is a representative parameter for status. Recent studies have shown that abnormal index associated with adverse perinatal outcomes. Here, we aimed determine this association at term gestation in our population. Methods: A of 98 singleton, pregnant women were included prospective study. Demographic, obstetric features and outcomes patients recorded. Patients grouped according as hypocoiled, normocoiled hypercoiled. Recorded parameters firstly compared between (n = 60) coiled 38) groups. Then, they normocoiled, hypocoiled 20) hypercoiled 18) Significantly different other Results: Abnormal group had an higher incidence low fifth minutes Apgar scores, meconium-stained amniotic fluid, intrauterine growth restriction acute fetal distress group. No significant outcome was detected Intrauterine (p 0.004), scores 0.046) 0.038) fluid found be more common than ones. Conclusions: Hence antenatal measurement could useful high-risk pregnancies can provide close monitoring well-being.

STUDY DESIGN This prospective study was carried out in the department of OBG at Adichunchangiri Institute of Medical Sciences, B.G.Nagara, Mandya, Karnataka, India from January 2008 to August 2010. 200 patients who were in active labour with term gestations, irrespective of their parities, who had sin...
متن کاملThe association Between Umbilical Coiling Index and Fetal Distress
Introduction: It is well know that fetal distress is one of the important causes of fetus perinatal morbidity and mortality. In this study, we sought to evaluate the association between umbilical coiling index and fetal distress.Material and method:This was a case- control study conducted on 90 term pregnant women. Study group had fetal distress (abnormal fetal heart rate, meconium staining, Ap...

OBJECTIVE Evaluation of the relationship between umbilical coiling index (UCI) and adverse perinatal outcome. METHOD A prospective study was performed on 699 pregnant women who were 37-40 weeks. UCI was determined by dividing the total number of the complete vascular coiling by the total umbilical cord length in centimeters. Then the relationship between UCI and neonatal weight, amniotic flui...
متن کاملAbnormal Umbilical Cord Coiling Index and Its Relation to Adverse Perinatal Outcome
Background: The umbilical cord is vital to the development, well being and survival of the fetus. A coil of the cord is defined as a complete 360 degree spiral course of umbilical vessels around Wharton’s jelly. Sonographically, the Umbilical Coiling Index (UCI) is defined as the reciprocal of the average distance between a pair of coils. Hypocoiled cords are those with UCI < 10 centile while h...
